Wtf is RAO?

Rao means medicine in Shipibo-Conibo, spoken in the Amazon.

Noya Rao is the Shipibo-Conibo name for a tree with glowing leaves (from bioluminescent symbiotic bacteria).

RAO is a DAO with roots.

Wtf is a DAO?

DAO means Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) in crypto-lingo.

Shares of a DAO are represented by cryptographic tokens. DAO token holders govern the DAO.

RAO roots DAO 

RAO has two kinds of roots:

  1. Equity in ground-level subsidiaries managing indigenous entheogen agroforestry operations in the Amazon and

  2. Plants.

Today RAO DAO’s roots are

  1. Shares of subsidiary IP2 RAO S.A., a Sociedad Anónima registered in Peru and directed by a Shipibo-Conibo lawyer; and

  2. A 8 hectare ayahuasca farm with more than 10000 plants near Pucallpa, Peru.

  3. A potential expansion to 20 hectares of primary rainforest in Muruinia

Ayahuasca? 

Ayahuasca is a globalized magic medicine endemic to the upper Amazon Rainforest.

It is made mainly of B. caapi and P. viridis, a pair of plants colloquially known as ayahuasca and chacruna containing the tryptamine DMT and a β-Carboline originally called telepathine.

Data from clinical trials on human subjects show ayahuasca holds promise in treatment of the shadow pandemic: widespread mental health issues exacerbated by COVID-19; depression, anxiety, PTSD, addictions, and all the rage.

Worldwide demand for ayahuasca is increasing. Ayahuasca supplies are dwindling. Price is going up.

But many of the indigenous peoples cultivating ayahuasca still live in poverty. Few have bank accounts and fewer hold equity.

Equity?

RAO believes equity is a fountain of wealth creation.

RAO compensates indigenous workers and communities in both cash and equity. UN SDG #1.

RAO uses a DAO for:

  • Coordinating worldwide stakeholder participation;

  • Easy equity compensation for the indigenous workers communities, developing their ownership economy;

  • Liquidity for RAODAO equity in crypto markets to empower indigenous workers, many of whom don’t have bank accounts but do have internet access, to sell crypto to cash at local currency exchanges and internet cafés (one a short moto ride from RAO’s Santa Clara farm)

  • Decentralized governance and treasury management;

  • Future-proof perpetual existence; and

  • The opportunity to scale and experiment with radical experiments in sustainable self-sovereign ecosystems inspired by terra0.

What has RAO done? 

  • Formed IP2 RAO S.A., a Peruvian corporation directed by Demer Gonzales Vasquez, a Shipibo-Conibo lawyer and director of IP^2 Foundation

  • Leased 1-hectare test site in Shipibo-Conibo community of Santa Clara, near Pucallpa, Peru 

  • Consulted with expert Shipibo-Conibo ayahuasca growers

  • Cleared the site, planted B. caapi, and P. viridis, yucca, guava, and sangre de grado in the Santa Clara site

  • Leased 2 more hectares in Santa Clara and planted more ayahuasca

  • Leased 2 more hectares and planted more plus a medicinal Cyperus grasses garden

  • Got 3 more hectares of primary rainforest as a gift

  • Purchased a 6-bedroom 5-bathroom house in the heart of the Shipibo-Conibo neighborhood of Jhon Hocking in the city of Yarinacocha, adjacent to Pucallpa

  • Received a request to expand to 20 hectares of virgin rainforest in a 44,734 hectare lot owned by the Shipibo-Conibo community of Muruinia a short boat ride away.

What will RAO do? 

  • Harvest and sell the ayahuasca in the Santa Clara farm and distribute the proceeds

  • Expand, acquiring and leasing additional sites like Muruinia

  • Incentivize stakeholders with RAO DAO tokens

Wtf are RAO tokens?

RAO tokens are the equity of RAO DAO on Ethereum.

RAO token holders vote on:

  • Management of RAO DAO treasury funds;

  • Project financing and implementation;

  • Engagement with consultants, contractors, and employees;

  • Purchases and leases for land;

  • Contracts for sale of harvests; and

  • Distributions of revenues to RAO token holders.
